Maybelline Colossal Kajal

                                                                          Hola!....
I am a huge fan of kohls and kajals! In fact I can step out of my house without any makeup but never without my kajal on. So here we go beauties my first kohl review is right here!! Let's gooo!!...

I purchased this kajal from my regular online haul.....and got this for about 150 INR.
I like the packaging of this kajal... It comes in a pen style, just need to roll up and use. I love such products as it's very convenient and saves time in sharpening the pencils, which also most of the time leads to product wastage....
The color pay off is average though, as you need to swipe at least 2-3 times to
                                                               bring out the desired color.
But, it definitey stays on for longs hours just as the company claims to offer...
                                                              long wear and smudge proof!

Also, it is easily available at any local beauty store or online.
I like to keep one in my makeup bag just in case...

The swatch above is a single swipe....

This is definetly a must have for all the budget beauties....This kajal is a huge hit in the market and its
                                                                easily understood why!
so if you are looking for an everyday kajal on budget with good quality and easy access....
this baby is the one for you!

Will I repurchase this?

Yes!!!

Faces Canada blush- Light bole

I have been Diving into blushes recently wherever I go as I realized that I don’t have a good collection of blushes for different seasons, occasions, dresses or moods etc...Etc...
You know we girls never get enough….
So anyways, in that hunt I ordered two blushes from Faces Canada- Light Bole and  Rose Gold from Healthkart.com
I’ll be reviewing the first one today and the second one will follow up soon…

                                                               Price- 299 INR

Packaging-
Simple packaging in round black pot which is quite sturdy and can survive falls.
It has an inbuilt mirror but there is no brush provided with it and that’s OK for me because the small brush            which usually comes along is hardly useful in my opinion.

What I think about this blush?

First of all the color is hard for me to describe, it’s kind of warm-peachy- brown…I guess! I know I’m bad at describing colors!
The texture is very soft and fairly pigmented, and is build-able as desired.
This is an absolute matte blush, I personally prefer matte blushes for work and this one just makes my life easier…

When I first saw this blush I got sad looking at the color, as dull colors makes me feel sad somehow…But,  when I tried it on the result was completely different than what I thought!
It gives a very nice warm peachy flush to the cheeks and I am sure this will look good on most of the Indian skin tones.

Staying power is about 3 hours max then it starts to fade so touch-ups are required…

Swatch-

The picture shows the color as deep brown but on application it is a warm peach with brown undertone...

Verdict-
Overall I am happy with the buy. I love the way it looks on me… and I would definitely recommend it to give it a try!

-1 for the staying power.

DIY easy hair masks for dry hair

                                                                Hi lovelies!
In the previous post we have read about causes and remedy for dry and damaged hair.
Let me take you through the beauty page of my blog of how hair masks help repair
Damaged hair and some of the DIY masks you can try home.

              How hair masks work?
Masks can help remove oil and dirt from your hair and give it a shot of moisture, making it shinier and more manageable. They also serve as a deep conditioner. You can use a hair mask as often as once a week, although for many people once a month is enough.

It’s easy to make your own masks at home as you can control the ingredients, modifying the mask for your hair’s needs and ensuring your mask doesn’t contain any unwanted chemicals. Masks are great choices for gently counteracting the damaging effects of hair coloring, blow drying etc, and are very relaxing.

                                                DIY hair masks:
I have personally tried most of the masks mentioned below and I have definitely noticed a difference!
NOTE: Once you’ve applied any of these masks to your hair, wrap your head in plastic wrap or
wear a shower cap for at least 20-30 minutes — your body’s
heat will help the mask work.
After the time is up, rinse out the mask and wash your hair with a gentle shampoo.

     1)     Coconut mask: Massage coconut cream directly into the scalp (sold in cans at grocery stores).

     2)      Egg+ yogurt mask: Mix one egg with two tablespoon of yogurt and work through your hair.

     3)    Banana mask: Blend one banana, one egg, three tablespoons honey, three tablespoons milk, and five tablespoons olive oil or almond oil. Spread the mixture through your hair.

     4)    Avocado mask: Mix one avocado, one tablespoon honey, and two tablespoons olive oil.  For dry hair and dandruff, blend the avocado with one tablespoon each of lemon juice and aloe gel, and one teaspoon sea salt.

     5)    Olive oil mask: Blend two tablespoons olive oil with one egg. Olive oil is extremely moisturizing while egg will add shine to your hair.

     6)    Mayonnaise mask: one egg+ 2 tablespoon of olive oil+ 2 tablespoon of vinegar. Mix well and massage slowy into the scalp.

     7)    Honey mask: 2 tablespoon of honey+ 2 tablespoon of castor oil+ one egg. Blend well and apply evenly from hair roots to tips.

     8)    Fenugreek mask: Take ½ cup of fenugreek seeds and soak in water overnight. Blend well to make a paste, the next morning, and massage into the scalp.

     9)    Herbal Henna: This is a well know traditional remedy to all the hair problems. Soak 1-2 cups of henna (depending on hair length) overnight. Apply to the hair the next day.

                                                                    That’s all for now!
Have fun! See you all soon!!!

How to treat dry and damaged hair

                                                                    Hi there!
Today I am going to share my bit of knowledge and experience about combating dry hair.
Oily hair is a drag, but dry hair is no picnic, either.
BUT HEY! WE NEVER GIVE UP!! ;P
Dry hair is dull hair, and it looks the same after you wash it as it did before.
Everyone has bad hair days, but with dry hair you may have those days more often.

Along with dry hair, you may also have a dandruff problem. Although it's more often a condition associated with oily hair, people with dry hair get dandruff, too. I have very long hair and they were fine until recently when they became extremely dry due to some reason.
Then I started doing some research and analysis for my hair through various sources.

This is what I realized; it is always important to listen to your body first!
Observe the way it reacts to internal and external changes. Your body will tell you what
works best and worst for you!

For example, you might be allergic to certain foods or drinks which would result in skin rashes or acne or even hair fall. Also, if your body is unable to resist to pollution or stress, etc, it may result in hair fall.

So, let’s first find out what are the possible causes of dry hair?
Dry hair can result from external factors, such as exposure to harsh chemicals, or from internal causes, such as an illness. These are the primary external factors are:
1)     Harsh shampoo
2)     Shampooing too often
3)     Hair dye
4)     Hair perms
5)     Chlorine in swimming pools and hot tubs
6)     Overuse of the blow dryer or curling iron
7)     Too much exposure to sun and wind
8)     High mineral content in local water supplies
9)     Pollution

Internal factors, though, don't have quite such a quick fix and is advisable to consult your physician.
Internal factors that cause dry hair include:
1)     Cancer treatment
2)     Certain medications
3)     Nutritional deficiency
4)     Prolonged illness
5)     Stress

                                         What is the Remedy?

External factors are easy to remedy. You just need to be careful about how you treat your hair, cutting back on activities that cause it to become dry.

            1)     Switch products and find out what suits you best and then make sure to stick to it.

2)     Always wear a cap when swimming.
3)     Cover your head when you're outside in the sun for prolonged periods.
4)     Be careful with the shampoo. Shampooing too often is one of the most common causes of dry hair. Many people believe that squeaky-clean hair is healthy hair, so they wash it one or more times every day. But shampoos often contain harsh cleaning agents that can strip away your hair's natural oils, which help hold in moisture. On the other hand, a gentle shampoo will stimulate the oil glands, so you probably should take good lather every two to three days.

5)     Be Kind to Your Hair. Dry hair is the most fragile type of hair and is subject to breakage, so it must be handled with care. When lathering, be gentle. Avoid any pulling or yanking on your hair in any way, which strains the hair shafts. Don't scrub with your fingernails, which can not only break the hair but irritate your scalp. Work up a lather using your fingertips, instead.  Gently rubbing your scalp with your fingertips will also stimulate the oil glands.

6)     Pour on the Conditioner. Dry hair needs conditioning. Look for products that contain little or no alcohol, which will dry out hair even more. Reading labels will help, but it might be simpler just to take a whiff before you buy. Conditioners with little or no fragrance tend to be low in alcohol or contain none at all. If your hair is really dry, consider using an overnight conditioner, which you apply before going to bed wearing a shower cap and rinse off in the morning.

7)     Use Hot Oil. Hot-oil treatment works best to repair dry, damaged hair. You can take warm coconut or olive oil and gently massage into the scalp. Wear a plastic bag or shower cap over your hair while the hot oil is on for 30 minutes, then wash the hair thoroughly with a gentle shampoo.

8)     Hold the Heat. Using hot combs, hot rollers, and blow-dryers can only lead to hair fall and damaged hair. Hot rollers are the worst because they stretch the hair while the heat shrinks it. If you must use artificial heat, keep your blow-dryer on a low setting and avoid pulling or stretching the hair while drying.

9)     Pace your hair treatments. If you perm on Sunday, dye your hair on Monday, and put it in hot rollers on Wednesday, your hair is destined to be dry and damaged. You don't have to abandon styling practices, just keep in mind that it's important to space those treatments out as much as possible.

     10)    Drink plenty of water and eat healthy diet for great hair.

That’s all about dealing with dry hair gals!!!

Use lemon for natural skin lightening :

                                                               Hi there lovelies!!

Lemon juice has a variety of uses for natural skin and beauty treatments.
Here are some of the ways you  can use lemon as a natural part of your beauty regimen.

·      Use fresh lemon juice on any area of your body, including the knees, elbows, and face to brighten up and soften your skin. Lemon juice also fades freckles, age spots and black heads by applying lemon juice before going to bed at night. Over the course of a week or two, it will cleanse the skin and lighten its color.
If your skin is sensitive to the citric acid in lemons, you may desire to dilute
the lemon juice with a bit of water rather than use it full strength.

·                     To make a hair conditioner for dull, damaged hair combine 3/4 cup Olive Oil, with 1/2 cup raw honey and 3 tablespoons of lemon juice. Use the mixture by combing the lemon juice mixture evenly throughout already wet hair. Then cover hair with a plastic cap or bag for a 1/2 hour. Shampoo and rinse this conditioner out of your hair.

  • ·                     For strong, shiny, bright fingernails soak your fingernails in lemon juice for about 10 minutes. Then brush your fingernails with a nail brush dipped in a mixture of 1/2 white vinegar and 1/2 warm water and then rinse with warm water.

 ·                     Lemon water is also great for detoxifying for your body. In a glass of warm water, squeeze half a lemon and sweeten with 1 tsp of honey. Lemon juice aids your liver in flushing out unwanted toxins, stimulates blood circulation, reduces arterial pressure, and activates bile and intestinal secretions. So it's a good idea to drink lemon water daily.

MAXFACTOR Miracle Touch Liquid Illusion Foundation- Review

                                                                       Hey Gals!
I am here to review another product by one of my favourite Cosmetic Brands- Maxfactor.
I recently purchased this cream foundation and have used it 2-3 times, and I can definitely say that I love it!

Where can you find this foundation?
It is easily available at any Maxfactor outlet or is best priced online (which I discovered later)

                                                                               Price?
                                                                 INR 580/- at the Outlet.

beautylifepages.com
                                                                       BRONZE 80

                                                                     My Thoughts:

I like the packaging a lot. The foundation is put in a round glass jar with a black color lid,   which also has a small white sponge inside. It is pretty soft and creamy. This foundation gives light to medium coverage. So, if you prefer heavy coverage this might not interest you.

This foundation can be perfect for everyday use. I find it best applied with my fingers but you can also use a brush or sponge. Usually what I do is, I apply a small amount on the face using my fingers, and then buff it with my flat top powder brush, and Wallahh!

It contains slight sheer in it which is quite unnoticeable; otherwise, if you want to take off the shine just apply a matte powder over it and it gives a perfect finish.

Best part- It did not break me out at all. Amazing! isn’t it. This product is very buildable so you can play around with it.
                                                        Suitable for all skin types!
It also lasts for good 4-5 hours and works even better when settled with a powder.

Pros:
·         Amazing texture. Soft and creamy.
·         Very buildable.
·         Easy to apply with fingers or brush.
·         Easily available at stores.

Cons:
      ·         The only thing I dislike about this product is that, the quantity is too and I mean TOO! less for the price.  It almost looks like a blush when you open the lid.
  •      Limited shades are available.

                                                                      RATING: 4/5

                                                                          Verdict:
Apart from the quantity this foundation is definitely worth a try. If you do not use foundation everyday you will love this for special occasions.

                                                                 Will I repurchase?
I am still on a hunt for my HG foundation, but I think I might purchase it again since I don’t use foundation every day, and I am pretty happy by its performance on special days.

That’s all! I hope you all enjoyed!
Please let me know if you have used this foundation before, how you feel about it and
Which is your favorite foundation so far!!?
                                                                     See you all soon

Faces Canada Smoky Eyes Set: REVIEW

     I’m soooo excited!!!!! yipeeeee!!! I finally received my product today through mail and just couldn’t wait to open it and try the things. I wanted to get this smoky eye set, ever since I saw it at my friend’s place.  I got mine from www.urbantouch.com for INR 950/- , the actual MRP price on it is 999/-. This is how the kit looks like;

I am very impressed with the packaging. It looks like a book, sort of an ELF beauty book. Inside the kit the products are well organized which looks attractive. Actually, I think it’s great for travelling too so that you don’t have to carry tons of different products for eyes. This kit has all the essentials and can be a perfect pack for day and night eye makeup.  Moving on to the REVIEW!!! This is a bit long post so please bear with me.

      1)     Cream Eyeshadow- Black

Net Wt. 6 g

The color is deep dark black which I am happy about as I had bad experience with color black in the past.L Extremely creamy and silky texture, makes the color glide easily on the lids. You can use a brush or works great with fingers too. It’s not at all scented which I hate in my makeup. I can’t stand that chemical smell at all.  In fact none of the products from this kit are scented. Yayyyy!!!
Ok. So I am very happy with this cream shadow, however, it does not last long on its own. It needs help of a primer.

Rating:  4/5

      2)     Eye pencil- Black and Brown

Net Wt. 1.13 g each

These pencils are fair enough too. The smooth and soft texture makes it very easy to glide. I actually heard bad comments for these pencils through my friends but, those were the white ones in appearance. The one that I got in this kit are black and brown in appearance and color. They work very well. Probably they might have changed now because of bad the reviews. J Anyways, I am happy with their performance. They last for couple of hours. I could not use the black one on my waterline though. It was not irritating but just could not get the color out of it on the waterline. May be they are supposed to be used as eye liners only. Here’s the swatch:

Rating: 4/5

          3)     Metaliglow Eye Primer:

Net Content 8 ml.

This looks like a WOW! Primer to me. It’s very silky in texture. The best part is it doesn’t irritate my lids; otherwise, I always have a tough time finding makeup that doesn’t irritate or break me out. It has shimmer in it which gives a nice look to the eyes. I am not sure about the staying power yet because I haven’t tried it. Hope it won’t be disappointing. Overall it looks interesting, performance will be judged later.

Rating:  3/5

    4)     Mascara- Volumizing and Lengthening:

Net Wt. 7 g
This is the second best product of the kit (first best will come later). I absolutely love this mascara. It’s been true to its words of volumizing and lengthening. It not only gives good volume to the lashes but also, gives a lengthening effect. This is a recommended product for people with small lashes or people who want to add some extra volume. I would definitely repurchase this if they would sell it individually.

Rating: 4/5

     5)     5 Eyeshadow Palette:

Net Wt. 7 g

This is a super cute palette with 5 beautiful colors in it. They are very pigmented just as I expected them to be. This palette alone can be used for a variety of looks, from simple everyday to clubbing night outs. The first color form the left is kind of champagne, which looks great alone or can be used as a highlighter.  The second and third can be used for a smoky eye look. The fourth is my favorite which is a pretty pink. I use it for my everyday makeup. The fifth is also an interesting color, kind of purple/grey... I don't know how to describe it but it looks amazing. It can be used for everyday or smoky makeup.

Overall it’s a great palette for different types of looks. I have a lot of fun playing around with the colors. I am not sure how long it stays without a primer, but I have used it with a primer and it’s not at all disappointing. This is my first palette from faces and it is definitely making me want more.

Rating: 5/5

     6)     Eyeshadow Brushes:

Honestly, I am a bit disappointed with these brushes. I neither could understand the shape nor the use of it. It’s kind of fluffy and rectangular/oval shaped. I may try to use them for spreading the eyeshadow or blending in the crease.  Not sure. I need some suggestions on this.

Ratings: confused/5

Verdict:
All together it’s a fantastic deal. Rather than purchasing individuals from different brands the total cost of them goes higher than this kit. Its worth a try.

Will I repurchase the kit?
Yes, I would because most of the products worked pretty well for me.
